UPDATE: Police have now released the name of the woman who submitted the false report.  Her name is Heather Stevens.  A photo has been attached.

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) -Police say a woman gave them a false report when she told them she had been abducted and stabbed.

Wednesday afternoon, officers say they went to N. Madison Avenue to a reported abduction.  When they got there, they say a woman who had cuts on her neck and arm told them two men had forced her into a vehicle, and then attempted to rape her.  Officers say the woman told them that when the men were unsuccessful, they cut her and dropped her off.  She was taken to UK Medical Center for treatment.

Later, as detectives continued their investigation, they determined that the wounds were self-inflicted, and that the abduction never happened.  The woman, meanwhile, had been released from UK hospital.  According to officers, she went to Louisville and turned herself into authorities.  She was taken to the Jefferson Co. Detention Center.
