On Thursday evening, a jury convicted 42-year-old Gary Lutrell in the shooting death of Steve Briscoe back in 2013, according to The Anderson News.

The paper says Lutrell’s defense attorney argued that he had shot Briscoe in self defense, back in 2013, claiming that Briscoe had threatened to kill Lutrell while armed with a handgun.  The Commonwealth’s Attorney, however, said that evidence pointed to Lutrell hiding in a truck in Briscoe’s driveway and then shooting him.

Lutrell, who lived in Lexington at the time of the incident, disappeared from the area with his wife following the shooting, but was found days later at a home in Ohio.  The Anderson News reports that Leslie Lutrell got away from her husband when they stopped in Sherpherdsville to use the restroom.

Lutrell is scheduled to be sentenced Friday.
