UPDATE: Officials say pilot who crash-landed is from Rockcastle County

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- Officials say federal agents will stay with a badly-damaged plane tonight after the aircraft crash-landed in Laurel Lake.

Emergency management say the pilot is Leroy Moore, Junior of Rockcastle County. Officials say he was not hurt, and he was able to swim to shore after the Searey amphibious aircraft went into the lake.

Investigators are still trying to figure out why the plane crash-landed. Officials say it’s illegal to land a plane on water regulated by the U.S. Forest Service.
