UPDATE: New details emerge in Estill Co. shooting

IRVINE, Ky. (WTVQ) – State police have released additional details on a shooting in Estill Co. that had schools on lockdown for about 45 minutes.

Investigators say they received a call around 1:45 p.m. Thursday about a woman who had been shot.  Troopers say the victim was shot after an argument at a home on Ida Grace Road.  The suspect, 19-year-old Jordan Payne of Richmond left the scene, but was arrested at his home on Mockingbird Hill Road.

Payne has been charged with assault and wanton endangerment.  He was take to the Estill Co. Detention Center.  The victim was taken to the UK Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The shooting prompted officials to place Estill Co. schools on lockdown.
