UPDATE: Name of murder victim released

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police have released the name of the man allegedly murdered by Vanessa Napier on Independence Day, prior to the woman leading police on a 45-mile car chase.

John A. Sharp, a 53-year-old man, was found deceased outside his home on July 4, according to Fayette County Coroner’s Office. LPD Officers say they had been performing a welfare check on him, and found the man fatally wounded.

According to Fayette County Coroner, Sharp had been killed by multiple stab wounds to the chest.

Vanessa Napier is being charged with Murder, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
