UPDATE: Mt. Sterling man faces several charges for driving into downtown celebration

Deputies arrested Billy Anderson, for allegedly hitting a police officer during a downtown celebration.

MOUNT STERLING, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office closed streets as part of an effort to keep a driver from crashing into the First Friday Celebration in downtown Mount Sterling on Friday.

Deputies say the driver almost hit a law enforcement officer during the incident.

Investigators say West Main Street in Mount Sterling was temporarily closed at the bypass after they say the suspect wrecked.

The MCSO didn’t immediately release any other information.
