UPDATE: Motorcyclist killed in crash identified

MOREHEAD, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Rowan County coroner has identified a motorcyclist who was killed Friday afternoon in a collision on I-64 at the 133 off ramp. The coroner says 60-year old Jerry Thatcher, of Morehead, died when he was hit by an SUV while standing next to his motorcycle in the emergency lane.

Investigators say 38-year old Jeremy Mynhier, of Clearfield, was traveling west on I-64 in his SUV when he exited the 133 off ramp and struck Thatcher, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Police say Mynhier and his passenger, 39-year old Kimberly Johnson, of Morehead, were taken to St. Claire Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Thatcher was a retired elementary school principal in Bath County.

The deadly accident remains under investigation.
