UPDATE: Mother who left baby at Salvation Army found

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington Police Department says they have found the mother they say left her baby at a Salvation Army Wednesday afternoon.

Officers say she was found around 4:15 a.m. Thursday morning.  They say she was taken to the hospital, an apparent victim of an overdose.  She has not been charged at this time.

The child has been given over to Social Services.


7:35 a.m.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)-  Police are trying to track down a mother they say left her baby and never came back.

They say the one-year-old was left with some people at the Salvation Army early Wednesday afternoon. They tell police the mother told them she was going to run some errands and would be back but she never returned.

They called police at around 11 last night. The baby was taken to the hospital as a precaution but police say the child appears to be okay. The case has been turned over to social services.
