UPDATE: Missing Knott man found in Ohio

HAZARD, Ky. (WTVQ)- Jennings Ritchie, the elderly Knott County man for whom a Golden Alert was issued on Saturday, has been safely located in Ohio.

Officials with the Utica Village Police Department advised that Mr. Ritchie was contacted at a Duke and Duchess Shoppe convenience store after he engaged an employee there, advising that he was having difficulty locating his traveling companions.  The employee became concerned about Mr. Ritchie’s behavior and contacted police.

Jennings Ritchie was taken to the Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark, OH, due to his altered mental condition, and family members were notified of his location.  Utica is a small community in central Ohio, approximately 35 miles east of Columbus.

Jennings Ritchie had been reported missing by family members Saturday evening, after leaving his home in the Brinkley community of Knott County earlier that morning.  There were strong concerns for his safety and well being, due to his suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
