UPDATE: Man accused in two attacks in Lexington arrested

BEREA, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man wanted in connection to two separate attacks on women in Lexington was arrested in Berea, according to Lexington Police.

Investigators say 56-year old Marquette Adams, was arrested Thursday night.  He was served two warrants for robbery out of Lexington.

Adams was identified as a suspect following an investigation by Lexington Police into two incidents that occurred the morning of Tuesday, September 4.

Two victims, a 76-year old woman and an 18-year old woman, were attacked by Adams in parking lots on the north side of Lexington, according to investigators.

Police say Adams tried to steal the 76-year old woman’s purse in a Walmart parking lot, but when he couldn’t get it, they say he cut and hit her and ran off.  The woman was taken to the hospital for her injuries.

While officers were combing the area, another call came in of an attempted kidnapping in a nearby parking lot.  In that case, the 18-year old woman told investigators she was sitting in her car during a work break when she was suddenly approached from behind by Adams.  She told police he covered her mouth and threatened her, but she was able to kick her way free and ran away.

Police say surveillance video from the Walmart helped identify Adams as the suspect.
