UPDATE: Lexington’s Urban County Council Cancels Rupp Renovation Meeting
The meeting was designed to give the council its first chance to ask questions about the $351 million project.
Mayor Jim Gray on Wednesday said he was suspended the project indefinitely after the city and Rupp’s main tenant, the University of Kentucky, couldn’t agree on the size and scope of the project.
The council is expected to talk about how and when the city will repay $2.5 million in state money that was used for the design of the project. That discussion may not happen until late August, according to the city.
