UPDATE: Latest numbers on salmonella outbreak in Estill Co.

ESTILL CO., Ky. (WTVQ) –  Estill Co. has released its new numbers on a recent salmonella outbreak.

The county health department says 49 people could have been affected  by the outbreak.

There are 23 cases that point to salmonella using the “rapid test” method.  One is confirmed using the “culture” method.

Eight people have been sent to the hospital.

The source of the outbreak has not been determined.  One restaurant, which isn’t being named, has been inspected with no major violations in food handling reported.

That restaurant has voluntarily closed to allow for more inspections
