UPDATE: Kentucky Still Leads ‘Big Blue Crush’ Blood Drive
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky still leads Tennessee in the 29th annual Big Blue Crush blood drive competition 1,437-to-1,203, with two days to go.
“While we are leading this competition, we want to stress to the Big Blue Nation that it’s not just about winning or beating Tennessee, it’s about providing for the patients who will need blood transfusions during the holidays. That’s why we’ve done this competition for 29 years right before Thanksgiving. Kentucky patients count on us, and we hope to see many more Cat fans Thursday and Friday,” said Martha Osborne, Kentucky Blood Center’s Executive Director of Marketing and Recruitment.
Big Blue Crush continues through Friday.
Big Blue Crush, the yearly competition between Kentucky and Tennessee fans and Kentucky Blood Center (KBC) and Medic Regional Blood Center in Knoxville, helps assure a strong blood supply heading into the holidays.
Everyone who registers to give blood during Big Blue Crush will receive a Crush T-shirt and a chance to win a pair of tickets to watch the Cats and the Cards on Nov. 26 at Papa John’s Stadium.
Donor Centers will be open special hours during Crush week, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday.
