For the fourth year in a row, Kentucky beat Tennessee in the ‘Big Blue Crush’ blood drive.

The final count was:

  • Kentucky    3,601
  • Tennessee  3,458

The Kentucky Blood Center in Lexington said there were 869 donors on the final day of the annual competition, which set a one-day record.

This was the 26th year for the competition, which helps ensure a sufficient blood supply for Kentucky patients during the Thanksgiving holiday and into December.

The win broke an overall series tie between the border rivals.  Kentucky now leads the competition 13-to-12 with 1 tie.
