UPDATE: Firefighters Battle Flames and Frigid Cold in Morning Fire
—
Lexington firefighters battled flames and frigid cold temperatures while fighting a house fire in the 300 block of Wilson Street Tuesday morning.
Fire officials say they received multiple 911 calls for smoke and flames shooting out of a second story window around 5:25 a.m. That prompted fire dispatchers to send a full structure fire response, immediately sending 12 trucks to the scene.
According to fire officials, first arriving crews reported heavy fire on the second floor and began putting water on the fire.
As crews battled the fire, they also dealt with frigid morning temperatures. The cold wasn’t only uncomfortable to work in, it also caused standing water on the roads and sidewalks to freeze, causing slippery conditions.
Fire officials say there were no injuries reported.
