UPDATE: Fire victim positively identified

JACKSON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The victim in a deadly Breathitt County house fire last week has been positively identified as 90-year old Troy Neace, according to State Police. Investigators say Neace’s daughter, Patricia Stewart, told them she woke up to flames in the home on Big Branch South Fork Road in the South Fork community around 5:15 a.m. on November 5, 2015.

She says she woke her 90-year old father up to get him out of the burning home and thought he had followed her, but once she got outside, she realized he wasn’t with her. State Police say Stewart was treated at a hospital in Jackson for smoke inhalation.

A search of the home later that day turned up human remains that were positively identified at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort on November 10 as Troy Neace, according to investigators. The case remains under investigation.
