UPDATE: Fire on Eureka Springs in Lexington ruled arson

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington fire investigators say a weekend fire at an empty apartment complex was deliberately set.

Investigators say the fire began just after 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2015, on Eureka Springs Drive.  Firefighters say they didn’t know the apartment complex was empty until they arrived on the scene and started searching.

Investigators say the open rooms allowed the fire to spread quickly.  Firefighters say the fire caused extensive damage to the building.  No firefighters were hurt fighting the fire.

On Monday, investigators ruled the case was arson and asked for anyone with information to call 859-231-5672 or email a tip to: lfd-arsontips@lexingtonky.gov
