UPDATE (5/30/18) – Reina, a dog stolen, along with a car, Monday morning has been found.

According to the dog’s owner, April Mink, an anonymous caller gave her a tip just before 11 Wednesday morning.

Mink says the woman on the phone told her she saw Reina running around at the Westchester apartment complex, off Leestown Road.

Mink, who says she was with a Lexington Police officer hanging up flyers at the time, says she went to the apartment complex and found Reina shortly after she got there.

According to Mink, the stolen gold Cadillac SRX has not been found.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Lexington mother is begging for your help finding her son’s therapy dog. She says it was stolen, along with her car, from the Kroger parking lot on Leestown road. Now, the search is on.

Like always, April Mink says she took Reina, an 8-month-old pit bull, for a walk Monday morning. They go so often, people in the area know the dog. But, the dog is more than just a fun addition to Mink’s family. She plays a vital role, as a therapy dog for Mink’s 20-year-old Autistic son.

“She will take her paw and put it on his shoulder and it’s almost like she’s saying, ‘It’s okay, it’s okay,’” said mink.

Now, Reina’s missing. Mink says Reina and her gold Cadillac SRX were stolen from the Kroger parking lot. When she went in the store, Mink says she left her car running and unlocked, with Reina inside.

“Even though the car was running and I thought I was doing the right thing by keeping her cool and comfortable, I see this was a terrible mistake,” said Mink.

Mink says she isn’t even worried about getting her car back. Instead, she’s concerned about Reina. That’s why she’s offering a reward, up to $1 thousand and putting flyers anywhere she can.

Until Reina is found, Mink says she isn’t giving up.

“Trust me, I’m gonna keep putting them up,” said Mink. “As long as they allow me, I’m gonna keep doing it.”
