UPDATE: Coroner Reports Fatality in SUV vs. Pedestrian Collision

The Fayette County Coroner has reported that a pedestrian who was struck by an SUV Tuesday evening has died.

Officers said William Barbour, 60, was struck by an SUV around 7 p.m. Tuesday on North Broadway.  Police said he was hit near West Loudon Avenue.

Police said he was staggering and outside of the crosswalk when he was hit.

He was rushed to UK Hospital, where he died, according to the coroner.

Police said the driver of the SUV is not facing charges at this time.

According to police, less than six hours later a different pedestrian was also struck by a vehicle near that intersection.

Police said around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, a truck hit a woman in front of the Rite Aid on West Loudon.
 
Officers said she was crossing the street. She was taken to the UK Hospital with non life-threatening injuries, according to police.
 
Investigators said weather was a contributing factor in that accident, and the driver is not expected to be charged.

Police said pedestrians not using crosswalks is a contributing factor to accidents near that intersection.
