UPDATE: City of Lexington to decide if Government Center will reopen Tuesday morning

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A decision could come Tuesday morning whether the Government Center in Lexington will reopen following an electrical fire Sunday night in the adjoining parking garage.  The fire left the center with some minor damage and no electricity.

As a result of the fire and loss of electricity, the center was closed on Monday.  Many city employees who work in the building were told not to come to work, while essential personnel were temporarily relocated to other city buildings.

Here is the update statement from the city released Monday evening:

Contractors continue to work to restore power to the Government Center.  Employees who work in the Government Center are asked to check local media Tuesday morning to find out if the building will be open so employees can return to work.
