UPDATE: Child dies, woman arrested following Lexington crash
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A woman has been charged in connection to a crash that killed a child Friday morning in Lexington.
The wreck happened around 3 a.m. on Tates Creek Road.
According to the Lexington Police Department, 24-year-old Sequoyah Collins was traveling at a high rate of speed and went through a red light at the intersection of Tates Creek Road and Lansdowne Drive, hitting a car.
Police say that car had six people inside – two adults and four children, ranging in age from 9 to 12.
All six people in the car were taken to the hospital.
Police say 10-year-old Alexia Gomez Hernandez died from her injuries.
Collins was arrested at the scene and is charged with driving under the influence.
Police say additional charges are pending.
