Update: Child Allegedly Rode Out in Front of Minivan

Lexington police have said a 13-year-old that was hit by a Mazda minivan admitted to riding his bike into the roadway without looking both ways for oncoming traffic.

They said the minivan was headed north on Whitney Avenue around 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, when the driver spotted the teen entering the roadway.

Police said the woman did not have time to stop before hitting the child.

Officials report the teen has a broken leg, a broken arm, and some scratches and bumps on his head.

No charges have been filed at this point.
