UPDATE: Autopsy Set For Evidence Found In KY River
Lexington police said the evidence was pulled from the water Friday as part of a homicide investigation.
It was the same area of the river that crews had searched in late December.
Officers said Saturday that they found what they were looking for just off the shore, near the bar Riptide.
Lt. Brian Maynard said, "The evidence itself, the retrieval part, was about 15 to 20 minutes. It just took a long time to get set up and make sure everyone was safe in retrieving that evidence."
There was speculation that the first search at the river was tied to the case of a missing Lexington man named Alex Johnson.
Police said Johnson disappeared on December 20th.
Investigators would not say if Johnson’s case was related to Saturday’s search.
