UPDATE: Accused killer reaches plea deal

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A teenager charged with shooting and killing another teen during a drug deal pleaded guilty Thursday to an amended charge of second degree manslaughter, according to Jessamine Circuit Court.

18-year old Tyler Jeffers gunned down 15-year old Leo Travers January 12th of this year on Garden Park Drive in Nicholasville.  Travers was a student at East Jessamine High School.

Jeffers also pleaded guilty to wanton endangerment, tampering with physical evidence and receiving stolen property, according to court records.

Prosecutors recommended 15-years.  Sentencing is set for November 9th.

Two other people were charged in connection to this case.

Jeffers’ grandfather, Albert McKinney, is accused of helping his grandson hide the murder weapon.  McKinney was charged with tampering with physical evidence.

Halie Anglin was charged with unlawful transaction with a minor.  Police say she drove Travers to the deadly drug deal.
