Update: 87-Year-Old Dies After Being Beaten

An elderly man, brutally beaten at his Lexington apartment Friday night, died Sunday morning at U.K. Hospital.

The coroner confirmed 87-year-old John Tully died from blunt force trauma. Police said Tully was beaten and found bloody at the Old Farm Apartments where he lived on Appian Way.

Officers said witnesses described a white male in his 20s or 30s fleeing the scene Friday evening. They said he was wearing a black shirt and blue jeans and was balding.  He also had a blue and black backpack.

Investigators think he may have been riding an orange and purple mountain bike close to Appian Way or around Tates Creek Centre, across the street, around the time of the assault.
