UPDATE: Developer says CentrePointe work has resumed
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Developer Dudley Webb says work is underway on the underground garage, at the CentrePointe site in downtown Lexington.
Webb said in a statement that it’s private property. He says it is not for sale, and it will not become a park or amphitheater.
“We have resumed construction of the multi-level underground parking structure that underpins the entire project and provides parking the City desperately needs to foster further development and redevelopment in the City’s business core. Our contractors and are now on the site performing construction work toward completing the Parking Garage,” says Webb.
As we reported a few weeks ago, some major investors pulled out of the project, after the city decided it would not put a new government center on the property.
The city also said it could take over the land after March 30, if no new work took place.
A city spokesperson said Tuesday that if real progress is occurring, then it would represent a major turn of events.
