UofL exploring outdoor May commencement exercises

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ/UofL Public Affairs) – In an effort to provide a safe and meaningful commencement experience during this extraordinary time, the University of Louisville is exploring whether to hold outdoor, in-person commencement exercises the weekend of May 7 to May 9 at Cardinal Stadium.

The ceremonies would be for May 2021 graduates and any 2020 graduates whose commencement ceremonies were cancelled due to COVID-19.

UofL commencement exercises are usually held inside at the downtown YUM! Center.

Details for the ceremonies are to be determined and would be based strictly on all UofL, state and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines regarding COVID-19 precautions.

“Commencement is a special time for graduates and their loved ones and we are hopeful we can resume in-person ceremonies this year. The safety and well-being of our graduates, their families, our faculty and staff and the community are of utmost concern and will guide our decisions,” said Dean of Students Michael Mardis.

Details will be announced when they are available.
