Higher than expected voter turnout on Tuesday

FRANKFORT, K. (WTVQ)- Voter turnout was better than expected for Tuesday’s election.

According to Secretary of State, Allison Lundergan Grimes, the unofficial numbers show nearly 42-percent of registered voters cast ballots.

The predicted turnout was 31-percent.

The Secretary of State says out of 3,451,537 registered voters in the state, 1,455,161 voted.

The State Board of Elections is scheduled to certify vote totals on November 21st.
