Fox retracts story about UK-Lexington Police
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Fox News retracted Monday morning a story it reported Sunday morning claiming the University of Kentucky was considering disassociating itself with the Lexington Police Department.
In an on-air retraction and an e-mail to WTVQ, the network said:
“First an update on a story we brought you yesterday about colleges considering cutting ties with police. The University of Virginia’s Black Student Alliance is calling for all outside law enforcement agencies to be banned from campus. The University tells Fox & Friends that is not something they are considering. In addition, we showed a graphic suggesting the University of Kentucky and the University of Ohio were discussing similar measures. They are not.”
The University of Kentucky vehemently denied the original report Sunday afternoon (see below).

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- The University of Kentucky says a report from Fox News Sunday is “inaccurate” and “unfounded”.
The report says the university will end its relationship with the Lexington Police Department.
UK spokesman Jay Blanton denied that on Twitter this afternoon.
@foxandfriends “The story that ran on Fox News this morning regarding the University of Kentucky and our relationship with the police department is inaccurate and unfounded. Our priority at UK is the safety and well-being of everyone.”
