United Way Prepares To ‘Fill The Truck’ For Needy Children

United Way of the Bluegrass said its ‘Fill the Truck’ campaign would begin on Saturday, November 29.

The non-profit planned to collect new toys, coats and outerwear at Walmart on Richmond Road in Lexington for the next three Saturdays.

United Way said the gifts would help needy children and benefit The Nest Center for Women, Children and Families.

It said the items it needed would be given to kids ages 0-5.

The suggested toys included dolls, cars and trucks, action figures, sports items, and age-appropriate books and art supplies.

Clothes were also needed for boys and girls, ages 0-5.

New coats, scarves, hats, mittens and gloves were among the suggested donations.

United Way asked customers to drop the items off at the truck near the Walmart entrance.

Volunteers would be on hand to take them at the following times:

•Saturday, November 29 – 9 AM to 5 PM
•Saturday, December 6 – 9 AM to 5 PM
•Saturday, December 13 – 9 AM to 5 PM
