United Way of Franklin County Host Kentucky Senior Games

United Way of Franklin County today announced the 2018 Kentucky Senior Games Presented by Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) will return Aug. 17 through Oct. 21, 2018. The multi-sport medal competition for seniors age 50 and over includes events taking place across Kentucky with participants representing at least 25 states and all skill levels. Leading health and well-being company Humana Inc (NYSE:HUM) is this year’s presenting sponsor.

“The United Way of Franklin County is excited to host the Kentucky Senior Games Presented by Humana,” Randy Roberts, executive director of the United Way of Franklin County, said. “One of our long-term goals is to provide healthy opportunities for the community, and in this case, the senior community.”

The 2018 Kentucky Senior Games Presented by Humana are designed for seniors of all abilities and includes 27 sporting competitions, with 20 events serving as qualifying rounds for the 2019 National Senior Games taking place in Albuquerque, N.M., and also presented by Humana. Qualifying sports include pickleball, track and field, cycling, basketball and more. The 2018 Kentucky Senior Games Presented by Humana will also include the addition of adaptive sports competitions and waived entry fees for non-ambulatory disabled veterans.

Along with the participatory events, seniors in the community can also attend Senior Fun Day, taking place at the Franklin County Senior Activities Center on Sept. 8. Senior Fun Day will include bocce, shuffleboard, cornhole and billiards, along with booths from various health vendors and an evening meal provided by the center.
