Union soldier remembered, honored in Georgetown Cemetery

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) – On Sunday, members of the Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War replaced the military grave marker for Civil War veteran, Benjamin Newland.

Newland’s marker had deteriorated over time in the Georgetown Cemetery.

The group held a ceremony to remember him and to pay tribute.

His descendants, including his great-great-grandson, who is a member of the group, were in attendance.
