Police: Arrest made in violent robbery of elderly man
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police say an arrest has been made in connection to a violent robbery in back in December.
Officials say the suspect, 50-year-old John Hampton Meadors Jr. was arrested Thursday in Las Vegas, Nevada. Meadors is accused of brutally beating an elderly man during a robbery at the victim’s home in Lexington.
Court documents reveal that the victim was punched multiple times in the head, face and all over his body. The victim also told police a metal stool was thrown at him by the suspect. Investigators say blood belonging to the victim was ‘splattered all over the floor and walls’ of the home.
The victim told police he attempted to run away to call for help, but alleges that Meadors pulled him back into the home and continued beating him. The victim was taken to University of Kentucky hospital to receive treatment for multiple injuries.
According to Investigators, Meadors stole the victim’s wallet, hundreds of dollars in cash and several cards including his social security card, insurance card and food stamps.
Meadors is charged with robbery and is scheduled to face a judge and answer to that charge Friday afternoon.
