Next Powerball drawing largest in U.S. History

(WTVQ/AP) – There were no winners in Wednesday night’s huge Powerball drawing of $500 million. Lottery officials say no one matched the numbers drawn.

The next drawing will be on Saturday and the estimated prize is $675 million, the largest jackpot of any lottery game in U.S. history. Wednesday’s jackpot was already ranked as the sixth-largest offered in North America and the biggest since a $564.1 million Powerball prize shared by players from North Carolina, Texas and Puerto Rico last February.

Powerball is played in 44 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

The odds of winning are one in 292.2 million.

ABC 36 was told The Dairy Mart on East Reynolds Road will likely be very busy over the next few days with those hoping to cash in on the big prize.

The store’s owner, Eddie White says his store has been lucky for lottery players before.

The store had a $1 million Cash Ball winner back in 2014.
