Updated: Suspected car thief bitten and shot following chase

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police say a suspected car thief ended up bitten and shot following a run-in with police.

Police told ABC 36 it started around 11:45 Wednesday night when officers spotted three men in a stolen vehicle on Versailles Road.

Officers say they tried to stop the SUV, but the driver, Antonio Adams took off. During a brief chase police say Adams hit an officer’s cruiser then turned into the Red Mile race track and stopped.

Investigators say three men including 40-year-old Adams jumped out of the SUV and ran off. Authorities say the passenger, Jacory Logwood, 28, was quickly caught while the other two ran, according to police.

Officials say Adams was found by a K-9 hiding behind a car on Curry Avenue. Officers say that Adams ended up bitten by the K-9.

Police say they also discovered Adams had been shot by his own gun after he dropped it on the ground. Authorities say he suffered a minor graze wound, was treated at the hospital and released into police custody.

Investigators say they are now searching for the third suspect in the case.
