Three pedestrians critically injured after hit-and-run

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Three people are critically injured after police say a suspected drunk driver plowed into them on a Lexington street late Sunday night.

Lexington police say it happened just after 11 p.m. on Winchester Road and Midland Avenue.

According to police, the driver failed to make the turn coming down Midland Avenue from Winchester Road, striking three men walking on the sidewalk.

Police say the driver also hit a pole and a street sign then kept going.

All three victims were taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The driver, identified as 25-year-old Asiel Iraola, was quickly tracked down on Leestown Road. Police say his car was also found badly damaged.

Iraola was taken to the hospital then to jail

He is charged with three counts of first-degree assault, driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident.
