UPDATE: UK releases statement on Jewell Hall student death


LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- The University of Kentucky says their statement Wednesday was in reference to a student death at Jewell Hall on campus.

Here is Thursday’s statement:

“We are deeply saddened to report that a student – Sean Culley – died last evening. Sean was a first-year student from New Jersey majoring in engineering. Our thoughts are with his family, loved ones and friends across the campus at this time. We extend our deepest condolences to them and to everyone impacted by this tragedy. As we indicated yesterday, we do not believe foul play was a factor in Sean’s death. Out of respect for his family, we will have no further comment at this time. Our counseling center and the college are already working closely with those on our campus who understandably have been impacted.”


LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- The University of Kentucky has released a statement on an incident that happened in a campus dorm.

Little information is available at this time, but the university says no foul play is suspected regarding the incident that happened at Jewell Hall around 2 p.m. Wednesday.
