UK Police make arrest in Bomb Threat
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – After a long overnight investigation, University of Kentucky Police who worked with FBI officials arrested a woman this morning in connection to safety threats made against the White Hall Classroom Building.
Police say the woman arrested is 19-year-old Haily Loraine Duvall.
According to UK Police Chief Joe Monroe, late yesterday afternoon the UK Police Department was contacted by a student who provided officers with a series of screenshots from the social media app “Snapchat”.
UK Police Chief Joe Monroe says Duvall was the person who originally contacted UK Police yesterday afternoon to report threats that were being distributed via Snapchat.
Monroe says the screenshots helped UK police and FBI officials in the investigation.
Police say Duvall is charged with terroristic threatening and filing a false police report.
Monroe says the 19-year-old is a sophomore at UK and a part-time employee at UK Healthcare.
Police say she could also face additional federal charges pending the outcome of the investigation.
UK Police Chief Monroe says Lexington Police also helped with the investigation working with the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and utilized forensic evidence gathered from social media posts to identify Duvall’s location where they believed the threats were coming from.
Monroe also says Duvall is currently being held in the Fayette County Detention Center and is expected to be arraigned later today.
He says UK Police will maintain a heightened presence on campus today to provide assurance to the campus community.
