UK Opera Theatre performs final show of ‘Don Giovanni’

Lexington, Ky. (WTVQ) — The UK Opera Theatre had their last performance of the Mozart opera ‘Don Giovanni’

Everyone that performed in the opera are students at UK.

Spectators were able go enjoy the 200 year old opera on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Lexington Opera House.

The last performance taking place on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Everett McCorvey, Director of UK Opera Theatre, says it is bittersweet seeing the last performance.

“I’m always sad when we get to the final performance, because we’ve had such a great run,” said McCorvey. “The thing that I have really enjoyed about this production this year is that there are so many young people that have been coming to the opera. And people worry about is the art form dying or anything like that. I put a post on Facebook the other day that said ‘opera is alive and well in Lexington Kentucky.”

McCorvey is happy to people enjoying the unique art form and they are very fortunate in Lexington to have a community that supports the dreams of these students.
