Solid Blue fans react to win over rival Louisville

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – If you’re a college basketball fan, you’ve heard of college basketball rivalries, but nothing like the in-state rivalry between Kentucky and Louisville.

Earlier this morning, Solid Blue fans flocked the streets of Louisville in front of the KFC Yum! Center anticipating the annual showdown.

However, with the Wildcats defeating the Cardinals, it turned into a party for Solid Blue fans here in Lexington at Tin Roof bar.

UK Senior Travis Adams says the Wildcats had momentum heading into today’s contest, after defeating ACC opponent North Carolina last Saturday 80-72 in the CBS Sports Classic.

” I knew we were going to win this game,” said Adams. ” We’re playing team defense, we’re hitting shots, Tyler Herro came to play.”

The No.16 Wildcats took an eight point lead at halftime 35-27, and took care of business in the second half securing a 71-58 victory over the Cardinals.

Solid Blue fan William Bolden says although Kentucky has a 10-2 record and a Top 20 ranking, the Wildcats still have work to do as the season moves forward.

” The biggest improvement I want to see from them is the defensive end,” said Bolden. ” Cause I mean, the defense it’s been a struggle since the beginning though.” They putting the pieces to the puzzle, so I surely believe this is the time that we could actually make a run to the Final Four in March.

But the party could last longer for Solid Blue fans after the New Year.

UK Head coach John Calipari and the Wildcats head to Tuscaloosa to face SEC conference foe Alabama on January 5th.
