Two people killed in Sunday crash in Bath County

SHARPSBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – Two people were killed Sunday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Bath County.

According to the Kentucky State Police, 19-year-old Brooklyn Townsend, of Sharpsburg, and 48-year-old James Michael Bellamy, of Tollesboro, were pronounced dead at the scene by Bath County Coroner Andrew Owens.

Townsend was southbound on KY 11 and lost control of the 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix she was driving. The car crossed the center line, crashing into a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado driven northbound by Bellamy, according to troopers.

The accident was reported to the KSP at about 45 p.m.

Jennifer Bellamy, a passenger in James Ballamy’s truck, was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for treatment.

Kentucky State Police was assisted by Bath County Sheriff’s Department, Bath County EMS, Bath County Coroner’s Office and Bath County Fire and Rescue.

This collision remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police, Morehead.
