Man charged, two people injured in shooting

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man has been charged in connection with a shooting that injured two people early Tuesday morning near a Lexington motel.

According to Lexington Police Sgt. Donnell Gordon, 19-year-old Tremonte Homer is charged with two counts of first-degree assault.

At abut 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, officers responded to the area of Newtown Pike and Citation Boulevard near the Motel 6 at 750 Newtown Pike for an assault with a weapon. Officers discovered two victims with non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

The shots were fired from an SUV, police said, and the investigation led to Homer as a suspect, according to Gordon.

Homer remains in the Fayette County Detention Center Tuesday afternoon
