Two people dead in Breathitt County crash

NOCTOR, Ky. (WTVQ)- Kentucky State Police are investigating a Breathitt County crash that has left two people dead.

Troopers got a call about a pickup truck in the waters of Quicksand Creek on Highway 30 East across from Airport Road.

Investigators found a 2005 Ford pickup overturned in the creek. Two people were inside.

The passenger, 35-year-old Jimmy Clemons, and the driver, 42-year-old Calvin Clemons, were pronounced dead at the scene. Both were from Hardshell; Calvin Clemons was Jimmy Clemons’ uncle.

So far, investigators think Jimmy Clemons was driving southbound on Airport Road. At the intersection of Highway 30 East he crossed both lanes, traveled over an embankment, and overturned into Quicksand Creek.

Troopers think the truck was in the water for several hours before it was found.

KSP says impairment could be a factor, and neither passenger seemed to be wearing a seat belt.
