Two employees die in separate work-related accidents at Montaplast

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Two employees have died in separate work related accidents in less than a week at Montaplast of North America in Frankfort.

On Monday, one employee was electrocuted and another shocked.

A news release from the company identified the electrocuted employee as 23-year old Benjamin Cermak, a production engineer.

No other details surrounding the accident were released, including the name of the worker who survived.

Another employee died Sunday at UK Hospital from injuries suffered in an overhead crane accident at the company October 13, according to the Fayette County Coroner.

She was identified by the coroner as 35-year old Angela Mitchell. Her cause of death is pending final autopsy results, according to the coroner.

The Kentucky Labor Cabinet is now investigating both incidents.

Montaplast is scheduled to be closed Tuesday, October 18.

Montaplast of North America was founded in Frankfort in 1992.
