Two apprentices a perfect match for business in new program

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Two students were looking for a potential career. Northside Family RV was looking for potential workers.

Bluegrass Community and Technical College had a new program to play matchmaker.

BCTC and Northside Family RV have partnered to offer the first apprenticeships created through the Kentucky Community and Technical College System  apprenticeship sponsor program for employers and industry partners throughout the state.

The first two student apprentices have enrolled.

During the next four years, BCTC Workforce Solutions will support the Recreational Vehicle Service Technician apprenticeship by working with Northside RV to provide their on-the-job training and related technical instruction at BCTC.

“Our needs were to find talent and continue their training to gain better retention,” said Northside RV recruiter Heather White. “BCTC was able to find two students eager to start a career in the RV business, and they will soon start working with us. We hope the biggest benefits for this program will be employee retention and increased productivity.”

Through these apprenticeship partnerships, participating employers gain the full spectrum of Registered Apprenticeship Program benefits while spending less time and fewer financial resources to attract, onboard and retain talent.

BCTC Workforce Solutions services include programming, skill gap analysis, developing scope of work training components that align to industry and company standards, recruitment, mentorship/coaching, administrative services and tracking and evaluation or program success.
