TSA: New screening program to make security measures easier for travelers
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Traveling through the sky? If so, you will not have to stand in those long stressful security lines at airports.
The Transportation Security Administration has implemented a new pre-check screening program that enables identified low-risk travelers to pass through an expedited security screening at certain airports in the United States.
Bluegrass Airport in Lexington is one of the airports that have adopted the program.
The airport says pre-check enrollment starts July 15, 2019 and runs until July 19, 2019.
They say travelers will not have to remove shoes, 3-1-1 liquids, laptops, light outerwear, or belts.
According to Bluegrass Airport, they encourage people to apply ahead of time on their website, HERE.
They say you will have to schedule a time to go, and the pre-check program costs $85.00 and is good for five years.
The airport says to complete the application process you will need either a U.S. passport or birth certificate, and a valid driver’s license.
According to TSA.gov, in June 2019, 92% of pre-check passengers waited less than five minutes.
They say over seven million people are taking advantage, with more than 200 airports and 67 airlines providing the program.
