Truck driver airlifted from crash scene
NORTONVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A truck driver had to be cut out of his semi after crashing on a ramp from the Western Kentucky Parkway to the Pennyrile Parkway Friday morning, according to KSP.
Investigators say 46-year old Derrel Berry, of Clarksville, Tennessee, was driving a 2003 Freightliner tractor-trailer southbound on the ramp when it went off the shoulder and hit a road sign. The semi continued into a ditch where it overturned onto the driver’s side and hit another road sign, according to State Police.
After being cut out of the cab, Berry was flown by PHI Air Medical to Vanderbilt for treatment. Investigators say he was wearing a seat belt.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
