Truck donated to fire department destroyed by fire
MOUNT EDEN, Ky. (AP) — Ford Motor Company has donated a new truck to a volunteer fire department in central Kentucky that was destroyed by a blaze.
Media reported that the 2015 Ford Expedition was modified and outfitted for firefighting and emergency medical services.
The August blaze at the Mount Eden Volunteer Fire Department near the Shelby-Spencer county line caused the loss of millions of dollars in equipment and gear.
In addition to the donation from Ford, the department has received over $1 million in funds from other sources including donations and insurance.
Construction on a new building is about to begin. Officials say it should be completed within six months.
Lt. John Butler says the cause of the blaze is believed to be electrical.
