UPDATE: Three Ohio County shooting victims identified

UPDATE: (5/21/21 10:30 A.M.) –  Ohio County Coroner Elvis Doolin has confirmed the identities of three of the four victims. With the assistance of Kentucky State Police detectives and the Kentucky Medical Examiners office, authorities can confirm the first three victims suffered gunshot wounds:  Hunter L. Owings, 20 of Centertown, KY;  Nora J. Owings, 44 of Beaver Dam, KY; and Calvin Leisure Jr, 66 of Beaver Dam, KY.

The fourth victim discovered in the burned building and the manner of death has not been identified yet.

Kentucky State Police detectives, Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office and the Ohio County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate


BEAVER DAM, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police troopers are investigating the death of four people at a residence in the 5700 block of US 62 West in the McHenry community in Ohio County south of Owensboro.

Local authorities were notified of the shooting around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. When troopers and deputies arrived, they located three victims outside of the residence with apparent gunshot wounds.

A detached structure described as a barn on the west side of the residence was fully involved in flames.

All three victims were dead and Beaver Dam Vol Fire Department worked to control the structure fire.

Today, a fourth victim was discovered inside the burned detached building.

Autopsies are scheduled Thursday for three of the victims in Madisonville. The fourth victim’s autopsy has not been scheduled.

The investigation is continuing by Kentucky State Police.

Other assisting agencies include the Kentucky State Police Arson Investigations; Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team; Kentucky State Police DE/SI West; Ohio County Sheriff’s Department; Ohio County Coroner’s Office; Ohio County EMS; Ohio County EMA and Beaver Dam Fire Department.
