Troopers investigate fatal three-vehicle crash in Breckinridge County

HARDINSBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police troopers are investigating a three-vehicle crash that killed one person Tuesday evening in Breckinridge County.

According to the KSP, 57-year-old Anthony Coogle, of Leitchfield died in the accident which happened at about 5:30 p.m. near the 3500 block of South KY 259 near the Harned community.

Troopers said the preliminary investigation revealed Coogle was driving a 2005 Ford Taurus when he turned onto the road into the path of a 2013 Ford Escape driven east on KY 259 by 62- year-old James Miller, of Hardinsburg

After colliding, Coogle’s car then struck a 2006 Ford F-350 traveling in the westbound lane.

Coogle was transported to Breckinridge Memorial Hospital by EMS where he was later pronounced dead by the Breckinridge Coroner’s Office. Miller was also transported to Breckinridge Memorial Hospital as a precaution. And 39-year-old Adam Moore, of Hardinsburg, who was operating the F-350, was not injured, the KSP said.

KY 259 was shut down for several hours in order to allow troopers to reconstruct the collision. KSP was assisted at the scene by Breckinridge Co. Sheriff’s Office, Breckinridge EMS and the Breckinridge Co. Coroner’s Office. The collision remains under investigation by reconstructionist Trooper Brad Holloman.
